Scottish national Portarit Gallery
My name is Olivia and my passion is to explore different places from all over the UK. I live in the Heathrow region. This weekend I decided to visit Scottish National Portrait Gallery. First, I book/hire a cab service from company. which have thousand plus cab drivers all over the UK. one thing that is best from other companies is that company also offer discounts to their all-new and regular customers on daily basis. They also provide discounts on their VIP and first-class cab hire service all over the UK. They also gave you meet and great offer to all customers. When my plane is land at London city airport my cab driver has a board which contains my name on it. company cab hire service is very professional from all other cab hire companies all over the UK. My cab driver takes all my bags and stores them in the cab. When I sit in my booked cab I am shocked because it is very luxurious and comfy and that's all they gave me at a very economical rate from other companies. My cab driver offer me some chilled drinks because it is hot outside. The cab driver is a very humble person. When I reached my destination the cab driver again opened the cab door for me. When I go to Scottish National Portrait Gallery I see the building is very colour full from all sides. There is a board which keeps all info about Scottish National Portrait Gallery such as:
Edinburgh's Queen Street is home to the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, a museum of art. The gallery houses the nation's portrait collections, all of which are of Scots but are not necessarily by them. The Scottish National Photography Collection is also housed there. Since 1889, it has been housed in a red sandstone Gothic revival structure that Robert Rowand Anderson planned and constructed between 1885 and 1890 to house the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland's gallery and museum collection. The Scotsman newspaper's owner, John Ritchie Findlay, gave the structure as a gift. The Royal Scottish Museum and the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland were combined in 1985, and the National Museum of Scotland eventually relocated to Chambers Street as a result. The Portrait Gallery expanded to occupy the entire structure, and on December 1, 2011, it reopened after being closed since April 2009 for the first extensive renovation in its history, which was completed by PagePark Architects. The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art and the Scottish National Gallery in Edinburgh are also owned by the National Galleries of Scotland, a public organisation, together with the Scottish National Portrait Gallery. All info is very informative for me. Scottish National Portrait Gallery contain a large amount of collection for example:
About 3,000 paintings and sculptures, 25,000 prints and drawings, and 38,000 pictures make up the museum's collection. The majority of the collection's earliest pieces date to the Renaissance and are generally printed portraits of clerics and writers as well as works by foreign artists depicting Scottish royalty and nobility; the most noteworthy paintings were primarily created on the Continent (often during periods of exile from the turbulent Scottish political scene). Similar to England, the Scottish Reformation virtually put an end to ecclesiastical art, and until the 19th century, Scottish painting was dominated by portraiture, with clients descending the socioeconomic spectrum. The earliest piece in the collection is a portrait of James IV of Scotland from 1507. In the 16th century, most painted portraits are of royalty or the more significant nobility. And many more I can't explain that much about Scottish National Portrait Gallery. I enjoy the journey with company cab and the Scottish National Portrait Gallery so much.
